Unreal, Kyle, and very lucky indeed!!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
On CNN website they have a video segment that you can watch about this story. Its in the green box that says watch free video.

This is all pretty amazing, living in the US and doing the type of cruising we do makes us forget that there can be problems like this. I know this is quite serious but I can't help to keeping thinking of the Disneyland ride Pirates of the Caribbean.

On Fox they are reporting this is common over there against very large expensive yachts and freighters sailing in the area!! They think because it was a small ship it may have been mistaken as a yacht, and lots of expensive goodies on board and an easy touch!!

I certainly hope that they are! I've often wondered if there was armed security on the ships we cruise on.Originally Posted by isujim

Some ships even have high-pressure water cannons, among other security measures.
I cannot help but guess that the cruiseline actually have plain clothes security on board. They may look like fellow passengers to you and me but are watching what is going on. I would also guess that each and every passenger is put thru the US List of suspicious people just like the airlines do. That is why they no longer allow people to just buy a cruise and board that same day and the cut off is a few days in advance.Originally Posted by sailyn

I sincerely doubt if any cruise ship is prepared to fight off an armed assault.
Most of us should realize that this part of the world is very unstable and wripe for problems. I would never cruise in the med, around Africa, or around the near east until a lot of changes take place in that part of the world.
Lot of you will think that this is unreasonable but I have been in HARM's WAY in my life and have no desire to go back there again...
