Thread: Pirates kidnap former journalist

The Somali pirates are getting bolder. That is what happens when they get accustomed to getting ransom payoffs with little risk to themselves.


It is a terrible thing.

In a story that says Kenya will now send troops into Somalia in persuit of Somali pirates, terrorists, and kidnappers, the last sentence says that the French woman, who was kidnapped from her home, was in a wheelchair.

On Oct. 1, Somali gunmen took a wheelchair-bound French woman from her home near the resort town of Lamu. Somalis also abducted a British woman from a Kenyan coastal resort in September. Her husband was killed in the attack

In an update in the Somali pirate issue:

Tanzania, Kenya and Seychelles have called for United Nations’ intervention to end political instability in Somalia, saying the situation affected tourism by undermining safety of tourists and security in the Eastern Africa Region.
