Thread: Strikes and unrest in Europe this summer !

There are many unrest and strikes in Greece this summer, for visitors of cruise ships be aware of it and don’t get to far in land, keep your distance to the ship short.
For Italy, follow the situation carefully because also there it could get nasty this summer.

I hate when situations like this hamper our enjoyment of the world!

But, I personally would stay away from Greece at this time. My late wife and I were in Athens in 1985 when the taxi drivers walked out over some small issue they had with management. The city was nearly paralyzed, and activities in Syntagma Square were only marginally safe. We were glad to be leaving the next day!

We were not afraid because we were Americans, but because the situation was obviously so volatile for the locals.

Economic and other political problems are causing lots of unrest here in Europe. I cancelled my med cruise in 2011 and will look for a transatlantic/land package instead. Looks like we are all in for a couple of tough years.
