And what a dufus for not doing his homework before taking important people on a cruise. No plans for excursions? No translation dictionary? No insurance? Oh puhleeze. Ah well, it was entertaining to read and good for a laugh.
But I will clear up one thing about the horseback riding. This is stuff everybody should know if any of you are planning to ride anywhere: One horse can indeed act up while the others don't act up at all. It happens all the time. And a person can indeed fall off a horse at a gentle beach trot (or at any gait, for that matter) if that person isn't used to a horse's motion, or if they freeze up and panic, or maybe they have a really bad sense of balance. I saw one lady fall off last summer just because the horse stepped down in a shallow 2" rut with one hoof. The lady was so out of shape and topheavy that WHOMP she just rolled off the horse like a sack of potatoes. But the usual reason one horse on a nice gentle trail ride might rear up would be if a newby rider yanked back hard on the reins for balance while squeezing their legs to hold on. Since pulling back on the reins means stop, and squeezing your legs means go...a horse has nowhere to go but up.
