    Tips: Going Ashore Safely, by CLF Members

    Let's share our combined experience for staying safe in ports of call. This is something new cruisers sometimes worry about, and here's a way to help them help themselves.

    Please feel free to respond by copying and pasting the list I'm starting, adding your own tip to it.

    CLF SAFETY TIPS when visiting PORTS OF CALL

    1. - Leave your pricey or flashy jewelry on the ship in the safe.

    Have a Plan A, B, & C for each of your ports that you feel is safe.

    Make sure you have know the telephone numbers of several folks you could call to wire you MONEY if something very unfortunate happened, stuck in a port, and you needed it.

    Take care to use "registered" taxis ... for trips to town or to a beach.

    Bring the ship newsletter for the day. It should list the port agent for that port (just in case you have a problem) and the time you need to be back on the ship.

    8. - Always use the "buddy system" when visiting new ports of call. There is safety in numbers.
