    Ryndam May 2010

Any hints for going to Alaska on Ryndam in May 2010? Good and bad?

We did a couple of Alaskan cruises on the Ryndam. She has been refurbished since we were last on her -- they have added the Mix in place of the Piano Bar -- which we loved -- JMO.

You didn't mentioned which date in May you will be cruising. We did one Alaskan cruise in May -- very windy, cold and rough seas.

    Ryndam Disappointment

We just returned from a cruise on the Ryndam (3/7 to 3/14) and were very disappointed in the service on board. This was our seventh cruise and previously we had always booked with Carnival and have never had a complaint. Unfortunately our experience on the Ryndam was not good, the service in the restaurant (Rotterdam Dining Room) was terrible and the waiters did not seem to care whether you liked it or not. The cruise also catered to a much older crowd and things sort of shut down by 8:00 PM. The entertainment on board was weak at best with the only high point being a group called the "Unexpected Boys" who put on a sort of Jersey Boys themed show.

We will NEVER book on HAL in the future, one time was enough, never again...

Welcome to our friendly cruise community!

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your HAL cruise. Sometimes it's the luck of the draw as to how old the passengers are and the entertainment onboard. HAL is known to cater more to the older crowd, though they are trying to change that perception. I hope it was just an off week and not the norm for Ryndam.

I hope your next cruise is more to your liking and that you will stick around Cruiselinefans and meet some fellow cruisers.

I loved the ryndam, I was on it right after drydock, I have never had better service! It was mixed crowed of young and old! Can't wait to go on her again this November from Tampa!

Sorry you did not enjoy your cruise on the Ryndam.

    Welcome to CLF!!

Glad you had a wonderful time on the Ryndam and loved the ship.

We have sailed on her quite a few times in previous years. Hope to sail on her in the future and see the new MIX.

I am glad to see others enjoyed traveling on the Ryndam, it was just not for us. We have always booked on Carnival in the past and really enjoyed the experience. We are now booked on the Costa Atlantica 11/28/10 to the Western Carib, we will see how this one goes..
