Thread: Ryndam Mexican Riviera 10/18/05

Our second time on this ship.

Although no one here is going on this cruise with us, I'll still try to keep the thread going if for no other reason than a trip report for those cruising on the Ryndam and doing the same itinerary in the future.

In a week we'll be sailing away at about this time. Yippee! Boy, do I really need a vacation or what.

My PCP is trying to arrange a flu shot for me pre-cruise. They aren't so happy with my going on a cruise in the first place, nor going out of the country. But I did this for me, and I really need it, so I'm going anyway.

We still haven't gotten our cabin assignment, so for each day that goes by without a room, I'm assuming our chances of an upgrade go up. Whether we sail in the inside, lowest category cabin or get the upgrade, I'll be happy as a clam. I really don't care.

It looks like we're going to be driving straight through on Monday night/Tuesday morning from AZ to San Diego. Glenn has to work on Monday night, and who knows when he'll get off.

I'll probably just go to work with him (it's 30 miles west, so that much closer to SD). When he gets off we'll start for San Diego. Hopefully it will be early enough for us to get some sleep in a hotel somewhere, but if not, we'll just go straght through and then crash for a few hours on the ship before our reservation at Pinnacle.

So anyway, this is all I know right now, and I guess that is enough, lol.

We finally got our cabin assignment today. We are in L685. Looks to me like a 4-category upgrade if I am reading the deck plans correctly.

Still at the back of the Ryndam, on the main deck, but I'll take anything they have to dish out.

Well, I'm just about all ready to go. We decided to scrap the idea of my going with Glenn to work. They have been working him until 6am some nights, as the snowbirds are coming back to Nevada/Arizona and playing more poker.

I'll just wait until he's off of work, then we'll leave from here, even though it's a hassle for him to backtrack. If he gets home early enough, I'll let him take a nap before we head out to San Diego.

I just tripped across this thread, and am so sorry I didn't see it sooner, so I could at least have kept you and your anticipation company.

Nope, I'm still here. It's only 8pm in Arizona, so I'm just waiting to see if Glenn will get off early or not. If he doesn't show by about midnight, I'll crash for a few hours so that I can drive while he sleeps in the morning.

Yeah, I'm packed. I still have the luggage open, though, because Glenn never packed any shoes and I'm not sure what dress shoes he is bringing. Men!

It seems as though ALL of our cameras are either broken or out of film (that is what I get for buying cheapo Walmart cameras, lol). So I don't think we'll get any pics at all. We made this same mistake on the Panama Canal cruise. We just aren't picture people, I guess.

Have fun at the Vegas get together. We would have tried to come up if it weren't for this cruise, haha. I think we'll stick with the cruise. Next time.

Felicia, don't worry I am sure we will have another get together before this year ends so hopefully you can come up for that one. I hope you and Glenn realx and totally enjoy your cruise. I cannot wait to return to the Ryndam next May. It was so neat to see her in port with us last Saturday when she was with the Oosterdam.

Oh, I'm so glad we caught you. Couldn't have you slipping away so quietly.

I hope you get a chance for a nap, but I don't know if I could sleep in your place... the adrenaline would keep me wide eyed, I imagine.

You might want to pick up a few disposable cameras ... you'd be surprised what great pictures they take.
