    Question Souvenir from Russia

Have you ever bought any souvenirs while in Russia? If so, what did you buy?

Only bought a bottle of vodka, which we drink! Not much else of interest to us. We did bring back a couple of Rubles, even though you're not suppose to, but had to have a souvenir. We did take ALOT of pictures!

I've never been to Russia, but my brother and his wife were and they brought me back a small Russian Santa decoration. It reminds me of a Weeble with the rounded bottom and has some type of bell inside.

Seems it's an unwritten rule at everyone must buy at least one set of those nesting dolls.

We brought back some with us too. A street vendor traded us a pack of Russian cigarettes and several large sets of the dolls for ONE unopened pack of US name brand cigarettes. (We also gave him a couple from an opened pack for him to try for himself.)

There are lots of different kinds of souvenirs one can buy in Russia (especially in St. Petersburg) besides vodka, dolls and matryoshkas - fur hats, amber decorations (there's the amber workshop at Catherine's palace, which restored the famous Amber Room), porcelain wares (there's a well-known porcelain factory in St. Petersburg, dating back to 18th century), military souvenirs (hats, badges, watches etc. for those who are interested), books, etc. Numerous souvenir shops and markets offer a wide choice of mementos.
