Hello, the most popular souvenirs from Russia are matryoshka dolls, laquer boxes, amber jewelry, furs and caviar (but at the moment catching sturgeons is banned), hand-made shawls with traditional Russian prints and so on. Venders usually sell fakes and "made-in-China" stuff. It is better to buy in the shops. They have the same prices but everything is original and made in Russia. Good luck with your shopping)
Please watch this video showing one of the most popular and reasonable souvenir places.

When my daughter went to the Ukraine many many years ago she bought her father a fur cap similar to the one the Russian army wore. She also managed to get some soviet insignia while she was there. I put one on the hat and I still get doubletakes from people when they see it.
