Ruby Princess to debut in Caribbean in 2008

    06/05/2007

    From Travel Weekly

Princess Cruises will add another ship to its fleet, the Ruby Princess, in November 2008, the line said June 4. The new ship, sister to the Emerald Princess and Crown Princess, will spend its inaugural season operating seven-day western Caribbean itineraries from Fort Lauderdale through April 2009.

Its maiden sailing will be Nov. 15, 2008 and will feature calls at Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Cozumel, Mexico; and the line's private beach at Princess Cays in the Bahamas.

The new vessel will share many of the same features of its sister ships, including the piazza-style atrium with small-bite eateries; Sabatini's Italian trattoria; the Crown Grill steak and seafood restaurant; and an adults-only, quiet outdoor area called the Sanctuary.

Thanks Ken, I am so bummed, I love Princess but we sail in October, can't in November and these changes have sent us to RC. Have to wait to sail Princess again when we can sail then!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Barb, it's the Southern Caribbean, on the Emerald Princess, 10 day itineraries from Ft Lauderdale. The itineraries will include both Eastern & Southern Caribbean ports, such as St Thomas, Dominica, St Kitts, Antigua, St Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, Bonaire, and Aruba, to name a few.

Yes, we've thought about the Emerald...she's here just a little later than we like to cruise and leaves just a little before we like to go in the spring...but she is definitely one of our choices in the running. Have been looking forward to sailing her! Have you been? Or know anyone who has?

Haven't been on the Emerald, as she just debuted on April 11th 2007, and is in the Med. & Greek Isles until late October, when she repositions to Ft Lauderdale. Don't know anyone who has sailed on the Emerald.

I wish she had come in a little earlier to Lauderdale, although there will probably be a lot of new crew members on her when she comes and I prefer them to be a bit seasoned. Also we wanted to cruise before November so we decided to wait a little bit to book her, but are really looking forward to it!!
