Becky, Hanna is right. I have been to all these ports
I also prefer to stay in apartments or even B&Bs instead of hotels.
Are you doing the Amalfi coast in Naples??
In Venice, you HAVE to do the vaporetto (no.1) all the way from Piazza Roma to the Lido and back again. Its the best and cheapest tour you can do in Venice.
Make sure you elbow your way to the front seats for a perfect view of the Grand canal

Yes, we're doing Pompeii and Amalfi coast in private van..so far just 5 of us. Thanks for the info on the #1. We are going to get the 72-hr. transportation ticket. Is the best way from Marco Polo on a public bus for a couple of euros??? PS...I once worked at Disney World...I know how to elbow!!!! I was a quick study!

The bus from Marco Polo is the easiest way to go into town. You can ofcourse take the water taxies but they cost more then they taste
St. Marks Square is best seen early in the morning. You should also go inside the St. Marks Cathedral. You can get tickets online to beat the long lines. The tickets are free anyway
The Amalfi drive will be a very memorable tour. We loved the place to much we did it twice last year
