Thread: Navigating the Maze - Brilliance OS Nov 09

With only two weeks left I am beginning to get excited. There is really not much to do but pack at this point. I received my travel documents from my TA. They scheduled my transfer from the airport in Barcelona for the day before my arrival, so I had to call to have that changed. Everything else looks great. I will be trying to figure out what I want to do about paying the additional charges on the ship. We have given them credit card information. I have purchased Euros and Pounds Sterling but am not sure about Dollars. I think I would like to pay for the services on the ship in cash. I will read a bit more and then ask for advice here on CLF.

I will report on packing in this report but will begin another trip report for the cruise. I am not sure about the format, but I am thinking I will do one post for each day. Lee

2 weeks goes so fast. Departure day will be here before you know it.

You can settle your onboard account in cash, US$$. You will have to inform them at check in.
You can also put US$ into your ship account.

I always carry US$ to give extra tip to room service, waiters, room stewards etc.

Since you have Pound Sterling, do you stay overnight in the UK??

Hi Lars, Thanks for the tip on tips. I am going to get some USD before we leave. Back in December, when I booked the trip with the UK TA, I had them include RT air from Heathrow along with overnight at an airport hotel both the day before and after the flight. Then I booked a RT flight with SAS Stockholm/ Heathrow. This was really stupid. I should have booked the Cruise Only with the TA and booked SAS direct Barcelona and spent a couple of nights there. Oh well! Live and learn.

Thanks Smitty, I plan to let everyone know how it goes. Lars, all the charges on the ship will be in USD. You recommend USDs for tipping, but I am thinking Euros will work just as well or better. What do you think? Lee

We're back home safe and sound. There is snow on the ground, so it will be back to the routine in the morning. I will be doing a report in a few days, after I get my land legs.
