    Yes, Tony, the same thing!

I just looked are our comfirmation from RCCL and it simply says "Open Seating".

It's very convenient for us and has worked well in the past. Unless you are overly picky about your table size and/or server, it's quick being seated.

It will suit us fine, we have done anytime on Princess and never had a problem or even more than a few minutes wait.

With the exception of a few smaller older ships, all of the 6 major mass-market cruise lines now offer their version of anytime, my time, personal choice, or open dining option.

Just booked on Explorer OTS and selected MyTime option.
For this option I had to prepay gratuities.
I wonder why ? It doesn't seem related in any way ?

When you have traditional seating, meaning you have the same waiter every night, you know who to give your gratuities to at the end of your cruise. When you do My Time dining, you have different waiters every night. And since most people do not carry cash around with them on the ship and do not leave a cash gratuity every night, the cruise line requires pre-payment of gratuities. You can have these adjusted if you deem necessary, just go to the Purser's desk.

I have no problem paying it in advance , just curious why. Guess i should have thought of that explanation. Princess don't require it in advance.

While Princess doesn't require it in advance, they do require it to be pre-paid, meaning it will automatically be charged to your onboard account.

They get you one way or the other.
