Good idea. We will.

And, we'll probably let the honors go to Mike, since he was the strter fo the original one.

Sure was nice of Rex and you to bread the ice for us... and to invite us all her in the first place!

Can't wait till everyone picks up their email.

That will be great!! Then everyone can decide for themselves if they are interested. I would hate for anyone to feel pressured or be uncomfortable to decline!!

My Signature Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Nor would we.

That's just not what giving/helping is all about.

It may be a few more days before we actually start teh 'official' thread... I think most of us feel we want to let some dust settle.

Now, I feel like I've come home,

And it sure does feel good to know that I am not gonna get blasted or flamed for talking about a school in Roatan that has done nothing but good for some kids that otherwise would have had less than nothing. When the site's pictures come back online and you're able to see the kids little rooms with their small amount of possessions so neatly stored and so well taken care of, you too will understand why several of the "newbies" on this board feel the way we do and why we try to go a little bit extra to do our bit to help. We don't get on here and ask everybody to give a lot, we don't ask people to give anything as a matter of fact. We just give people that have already decided to help, a way to make that decision a reality. If you want to give and need someone to take your items to the school, we can help . If you're gonna cruise to Roatan in the future, and you can take a reasonable amount of supplies, we can help. Right now, we still have ships sailing to Roatan, and we still have supplies that need to get to Roatan, so you can come here and let us know who you are, and what you WANT to do. Soon there will be a thread on the Off Topic board that will be our new home, and you will all be , but for right now, if you want to help, or know, or just visit, this must be the place to come.
To Rex, Sue and all the rest that have led us here, and taken us out of the wilderness that we had to wander in for about a week, and to the lovely ladies that came in from the cold with me, May God bless you and hold you in the palm of his loving hands. Mike

Yeayyyyyy!

A Roatan thread!!! Thank You! Roatan was the highlight of my Horizon cruise last winter. (except that my friend John was not feeling well and couldn't get off the ship with me). After months of anticipation, finally getting to deliver the supplies to the orphanage/school and meeting the children was just so exciting for me. I didn't get to see a lot of the island, but am looking forward to returning.

Hi Mike. It truly makes me happy to know that you are comfortable here!! My chances of getting to Roatan are slim to none, sorry to say, but I would love to help with supplies. Once I find out what is needed, for children, as well as adults if it is needed, I can start collecting. Then I can mail to someone, as I fill boxes. I do need someone to guide me though. I'm sure one of you can show me the way!! I have a large family, and I can get my children to help as well.

Thank you Lynn, you know out of all of the people that have used "our" thread to learn about the school, and then came back and posted a review about their visit, I don't recall reading any that didn't find their trip to the school a most rewarding experience and usually a highlight of the entire cruise! Even a lot of families that made the trip with children have remarked how much the they enjoyed meeting the kids from the school. I don't know about the others, but everytime I read a post like yours from someone that has visited the lovely island of Roatan and visited the school I have a tendecy to develop some wet eyeball. I for one am glad you made the trip and I am really glad you enjoyed the school. Bless you for giving part of your vacation to help others. Mike

Hi Sue, thanks for the welcome. When you get ready to start collections, just let one of us know, you'll be surprised how well maitaimama, canarymoon, and mccruiser can take care of any needs or problems that arise. By the way, If anyone knows anyone with access to a huge electrical generator, stop by our off topic thread soon and read all about how bad I want one for the school. Ah someday the lights will go on in a school yard in Roatan, and they'll never go out again.

When Mike starts the official thread, I'll post a needs list for all to see, along with an explanation of some of the logistics that we have developed over ethe past year or so.

I'm here too! And I feel like this site has been like manna from heaven for those of us who had worked together on this amazing enterprise for the orphanage.

I haven't had to watch what I say, or wonder who's watching what I say! Thanks to everyone on this board for making this a wonderful oasis.
