    Have you been to Roatan?

    Have you been to Roatan?

If so, do you want to return? If not, would you like to go?

Lol LuLu! You are answering yourself now? A) You must be bored, B) the island of Roatan is paying you for your endorsement, or C) you really just LOVE Roatan!

Lulu, we did go to Roatan on one of our cruises. We didn't get to see much of the island as we went to an orphanage loaded down with supplies for the kids. What we did see was very pretty. But such a poor poor country. Broke my heart.

We stopped at Roatan on the Carnival Valor in May, 2005. Went to the West End of the island. Would go back again and do a different tour.

Robin, sometimes I post questions and polls for all of us to see the thoughts and opinions of others. The replies are for everyone ... not just me. Yes, I do often answer those. Never thought it was a problem.

Some people who have NOT been to Roatan will be reading and interested in how folks who have been liked it ... so we need to give them as many replies as possible.

I've been to Roatan several times ... LOVE Rotan ... and hope to return!

We went to Roatan last November on the Valor. Originally, we were scheduled to zip-line, however, the weather did not cooperate. We ended up doing a tour of the island with a private driver. It was AMAZING. He took us to a very high point on the island with spectacular views. We got to stop in a local supermarket to shop for coffee, vanilla, etc. (prices were much cheaper than the tourist traps). We also stopped at the Cameo Factory, where a few of the women got beautiful jewelry, at great prices.

On a previous visits, we went to the west end and snorkeled and had lunch at a very pretty spot. We've also been to Tabyana Beach, which was fun, but very secluded and you didn't see much of the island.

It is a beautiful island, with much to offer. Wouldn't mind going back again.

We have been to Roatan a few times -- have mostly done Mayan Ruin excursions.

    We are not beach people.

So -- we can either take it or leave it.

This time we will be going to Mahogany Bay in Honduras.

Roatan was devastated by a hurricane a few years ago and this new port facility was built. YES...there IS a Diamonds International there....is Margaritaville far behind? I really hate to see this kind of commercialism coming to little Roatan.

New Roatan Port...taken from our balcony last week.
See the welcoming dancers & band on the bridge?

We're visiting Roatan at the end of the year - great to see people being so enthusiastic about it! What do you recommend we do on our day in port?
