Thread: Mahogany Bay Opening DELAYED until early December.

According to Victor Bodden, large tour operator in Roatan, Carnival Corp. has delayed the opening of their Mahogany Bay Facility until early December.

The Princess and Carnival ships scheduled to dock there prior to December will dock in Coxen Hole instead.

Victor sent out emails to those booked on one of his tours to let them know where they would NOW be met by a Bodden tour guide.

I checked the ship schedule on the Mahogany Bay site. It no longer has any ships on the calendar for Nov. but does still have many listed for Dec.

Yes, unfortunately they did delay the opening-- I was really looking forward to it. It is a beautiful place. The shops are all painted up in pastel colors and the restaurant/bars are just about ready-- I came to Roatan on a Carnival Cruise and fell in love with Roatan- Now we live here full time and I recently opened a small shop, just down the road from Mahogany Bay. It is by far one of the newest, top notch cruise terminal facilities, complete with it's own island, pristine beach and even a chair lift ride similar to a ski lift that brings you from the dock right to the beach. Several of my friends here have been training as bartenders at "Fat Tuesday"-- the New Orleans style fun place! (and they got to ride the chair lift ride--breathtaking views above our reef system) Snorkeling and scuba is extremely popular here. But if you venture out on a scooter, motorcycle, quad- you'll see dolphins, wild parrots and monkey's around the island. Stop by and say "hello" at my place: "Tiki Hot Island Spot"... I'd love to meet ya! Have fun in Roatan!

How great to have a source of info right on the spot!! I am looking forward to more updates from you, tropicalparrot. It will be good to have news of Roatan again.

You know, though I have only seen pictures and Videos of the Mahogany Bay cruise facility, I have some real mixed feelings about it.

I feel good for the people of Roatan, of course, as it will surely provide an economic boost.
However, I haven't yet seen one of these fancy cruise line built facilities that I personally cared a whit for. I would just as soon continue to dock at Coxen Hole myself.

As reported, Mahogany Bay wasn't opened when we were in Roatan last week.

Forturtunately, we had not cancelled our tour to Tabyanna Beach so we had a great day.

Someone on the excursion staff told me there were RUMORS Mahogany Bay might not be opened until the first of the year.

Fortunately, we have Donna to keep us updated.
