It's going to be my first time in this port, and I'm preferably not looking for a cruise line tour. I would like something I can taxi over to, preferably not overcrowded, drinks and food nearby. Thanks for any input/personal experiences!

I thik Zydecocruiser will have some good advice for you.
I have snorkeled there once, but all the other times I went there, I didn't get to get in the water at all, and the place I went to was probably not the kind of place you are looking for.

It WAS uncrowdeed,but small and a little out of the way. The snorkeling was OK but I think it is better in other places.

We've taken a catamaran snorkel & sail and a historic yacht snorkel & sail in Roatan ... but they were both offered by the ship.

Roatan is beautiful! Have fun planning.
