    New cruise facilities?

We heard some time back that there were new cruise facilities in the works for the Port of Roatan . . .

I believe they were supposed to be finished for this cruising seasion, but have heard nothing new.

    Does anyone know?

When we were there a year ago they were still working on it- and it was looking nice, but they weren't done...

We are eager to hear about the new port area as well. We sail on the NCL Jewel on 12/20 and this port is one of our stops.

Carnival is a part owner of a new facility scheduled to open Nov 19th with Carnival Legend.

"The stunning new $62 million Mahogany Bay cruise center on Roatan in the Bay Islands of Honduras is something we are all excited about. Construction continues on the 20-acre project which is expected to welcome its first cruise ship the Carnival Legend on November 19."

I am not aware of the other pier closing, but it might. I think the Carnival one can accommodate 2 ships.

We were there in May at the regular terminal. They were working on the cruise center there; some shops were open. Nothing terribly exciting then IMHO, but it sure looked a lot better than a couple of years ago, when there was basically nothing there but some asphalt, pebbles, and a chain link fence.

But I guess you were asking about the new, separate Carnival cruise terminal. I had forgotten about it, but now I recall that we passed by it, and very little had been done with it then.
