    Roatan -- Your Opinion

If you wish, PLEASE give your reasons. They could be very helpful to those who haven't been and are considering going.

We really liked Roatan once away from Coxen Hole!

It's a good place to snorkel or just play around in the water! Hope to go back there again!

Only been there once and the day was pretty much taken up by a visit to an orphanage. So therefore, we didn't get to see much. Would like to go back as the people seem quite friendly

    It's REAL!

If you rush into every port looking for the inevitable Diamonds International, Margaritaville, and maybe a McDonalds, all surrounded by concrete, don't bother with Roatan.

If you want to see what someplace looks like BEFORE all those "improvements" arrive, get to Roatan QUICKLY, before Carnival finishes their masterpiece there.

Now, for the WATER (which, hopefully, they won't try to improve) is some of the most amazing I have ever seen! When the ship is docked, you can stand on the TOP deck and look at the BOTTOM!

The coral reef is so close in that you can shore snorkel to it! The sea life is fabulous.

The people are warm and open... at least the ones I ran into were.

Coxen Hole is poor... some hight say the name is appropriate, but it really is REAL!

Too bad we can't go to the orphanage there anymore.
Those kids really do OWN a piece of my heart.
    I miss them like crazy.

I had a bad experience there, but not due to Roatan. I had to fight like a wild beast to get our donations for the orphanage off the ship and into the hands of the locals. It required intervention by the local Secretary of State and my dumping everything in a heap in the atrium lobby on the Carnival Valor, while creating quite a scene.

I thought that Roatan was beautiful and unspoiled but we didn't see a lot on our last visit. We are going back in December and hope to see more and do some snorkeling.
