    Rhapsody of the Seas

Hi furthermore to me discussing this on this site I think I have found a cruise to Alaska, two quick questions please

1 Rhapsody of the Seas, good or bad ship?
2 It flies to Seattle and goes to Tracy Arm? Is this a good cruise to do?

    Many thanks

We sailed the Rhapsody 3 years ago when she was based in Galveston. I thought she was a good ship, but I notice she's gotten a few bad reviews lately. The Travel Channel is airing a show tonight called Royal Passage to Asia which I heard was filmed aboard the Rhapsody when she was based over there. You might give it a look-see. Other than being a bit older, I had no problems with her. We had a great time on her.

We did the Rhapsody just before her last dry dock and just after. They did a good job of it! We really enjoyed the set up in the Windjammer and the dining rooms were done very nicely too. The ship overall was good.

I had no major problems on my 2 Rhapsody cruises.

Rhapsody is a sister ship of Vision.

Whether you do a RT (out of Seattle, Vancouver, or SF) or an one-way, usually between the Anchorage area and Vancouver, depends on you. If you don't plan to do any cruisetours before or after your cruise and if you want to keep the cost of your flights down, then go for the RT. Some people prefer to do the one-way because of the ports, routes, or the desire to go on a cruisetour.

Our Alaskan cruise was the RT out of Seattle by choice because we weren't going on any cruisetours. Instead we took Amtrak up to Seattle (40 hours going up and 40 hours going down to Oxnard, CA) and we spent some time in Seattle. We enjoyed the Tracey Strait glacier cruising.

Whichever cruise you decide on, the scenery in Alaska is incredible.
