    Royal Caribbean recently announced plans to deploy the 78,500-ton Rhapsody of the Sea

    Royal Caribbean recently announced plans to deploy the 78,500-ton Rhapsody of the Seas to Asia starting December 10, 2007. Itineraries will include departures from Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai with exotic ports of call in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

    The Rhapsody is one of Royal Caribbean's Vision-class ships, with features that include a rock-climbing wall, open atrium with a shopping arcade, outdoor pool, indoor/outdoor pool with retractable roof, themed bars and lounges, a spa and fitness center and a casino.

    Royal Caribbean has not yet released full itineraries for its Asia departures.

    Yes, I am planning to join their cruises on 8/2 or 13/2 sailing from Hong Kong

    I have thought about cruising is Asia for years, now I will have a ship that I like going there.

    cruising in Asia will be quite the experience...

    however a few things to note.... like cruising in the Med, ports may be far distances away from major metropolitan cities.

    for example... the port for Beijing is a good 2-3 hours drive from Beijing and even further to the Great Wall of China.... take that into account when figuring shore excursions, etc.

    additionally, the ports used for Bangkok, Thailand are also a good 2-3 hour drive from the heart of the city and any touristy or historic sites that you would want to visit.
