Thread: What does it cost to use the internet on Rhapsody of The Seas.

Hi All, My Hubby and I are going to be cruising on Rhapsody of the Seas around the South Pacific in December 2008 with my sister and her husband. We would really like to keep in touch with our children and family back home, while we are away. What does it cost to use the internet while on board, are there any internet packages or special deals available. We were thinking of buying a compact laptop (ASUS) to take on board as they are wireless and ment to be great to take on holidays so that we can use it to email family while away. Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated. The other question that I have is, are there any soda and coffee card programes on board, they are great as they do save you money. As we will need to have extra with us to pay for our laundry done for us. We are more than happy to do our own laundry while on board and are disappointed that there is no self serve laundries on board.

We were on the Rhapsody about 3 years ago. If you click on my photo link below, you can see a copy of my final bill. There is a charge of $9.50USD for internet. I think that amounted to about 10 minutes of internet time. You can buy packages of minutes with more time - the more time you buy, the more money you save. But it is a lot more expensive than any internet you get here on land. You can also see we bought soda cards for the two of us for about $96USD (including 15% gratuity - that's the pool bar charge that appears first). I think the price is still about the same. Not sure about coffee packages. DH had his coffee with breakfast and after dinner for no charge. There is no self-serve laundry facility on board, unfortunately. My photo page also includes the itineraries and Cruise Compass documents from our cruise, although we were in the Caribbean at the time. You are welcome to click in and peruse. The album with the photos has more documents than the album that seems to have the documents. (I need to get rid of that document section - I rearranged it in prep for my next cruise coming up soon.)

Prices at Royal Caribbean online and Wireless is $ 0.55 per minute.

Pre-Paid internet packages costs:

60 minutes $28
90 minutes $38
150 minutes $55

Wi-Fi hot spots are available in the Viking Crown Lounge, The Solarium, Pool Area, Windjammer Cafe, Centrum Areas and Seating Areas, Schooner Bar and Moonlight Bay Lounge.

The unlimited fountain soda package is $ 4 a day for guests 17 years and younger and $ 6 a day for guests 18 years and older, pluss 15 % service charge.
The fountain soda package is only available for the total amount of days of the cruise and prices are subject to change without notice.
This package entitles guests to unlimited consumption of fountain sodas (no cans) at all bars and lounges, the Windjammer Café and Main Dining Room. The unlimited Soda package is available for purchase on the day of embarkation at all bars and lounges and may be charged to your SeaPass account. After you have purchased the package, they will put a sticker on your boarding card, allowing you to consume fountain sodas throughout your cruise. A complimentary souvenir cup is included as part of the package.

There are also Wine and Dine packages available. You can choose from Diamond (most expensive), Platinum or Gold (cheapest) packages. each package contains either 5-7-10 or 12 bottles.

Not sure about coffee packages. Free coffee, tea, ice-tea and juices are available in the dining-room, Windjammer Cafe, room service and at drinks station on deck.
If you are a member of Crown & Anchor Society you will get a few 25% off cupons in your value booklet to use at Latte-Tudes. A "buy 10 coffees and get 1 free" cards are available at Latte-Tudes too.

Laundy:

On selected days of your cruise your cabin steward will put a ""laundry bag special" in your cabin. You fill it up and you only pay $ 20 for the bag. This is washing ONLY. No pressing!
