Luggage Tags on RCI - Rhapsody out of Galveston

Please excuse my insane, picky little detail question. . .

On the cruise we sailed on last summer, we had color coded luggage tags that we filled out and put on our bags prior to getting to the pier. I understand that RC has their baggage tags at the pier - how does this go? Is it like airport baggage check-in, where there is a computer spitting out the correct tag? My cruise documents indicate that I may have to fill something out?

Any insight for the confused-yet-nit-picky newbie?

    Thanks!
    Erin

No picky questions here, all are important!! I am curious for the answer as well as we are sailing RC this year!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Did you receive your tags with your docs? Don't have enough?
I'm not sure I understand this correctly.

My documents were sent via e-mail, and I was told I would be getting the luggage tags at the pier, so I'm wondering how that worked. Funny thing is, everything on the RCI website says that the luggage tags are given at the pier, but one representative told me that they would be mailed to me. So I'm confused.

The final cruise docs were eDocs (here's one I found http://www.royalcaribbean.com/conten...uestticket.pdf ) - the thing about ship luggage tags being available from the porters at the pier was on page 5. Now I'm wondering - are all cruise docs done as eDocs? Or is this because we booked through the cruise line?

So I'm just wondering how everything works. . .or if I need to ask for something else???

The porters at the pier will have blank tags. You will show them your docs, if you printed them out or your set sail boarding pass. They will just write in your cabin
number and put the tags on the bags.

Erin, I have never had mine sent via email, I always get them from my TA.
So I'm glad you asked this question because I didn't know either.

    Check my answer above Hanna.

All of the cruise lines will be going to E-DOCS sooner or later.
Princess has already gone to all E-DOCS
If you have a TA, they should print them out for you.
I really don't know how they will handle the DOCS for people
who book direct and don't have a computer or printer.
    Better get a good TA.

I just wish they had a way of doing the luggage tags electronically. We're going to have someone drive us to the pier (where we would have preferred to drive and park ourselves), because I don't want to have to hassle with the luggage plus making sure the tags are on correctly while dh is parking the car, or vice versa. Oh well, I guess we're saving the parking for the week, eh?

Don't the airlines still provide paper tickets for those who don't have e-mail? I'd guess that without an e-mail address, a cruise line would have to send paper documents, right? Still, I'd also guess that the person most likely to be a TA would be the person with no computer.

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!

Last November when we sailed on the Freedom of the Seas, the porter handed us the tags to fill out. The week before, on the Majesty, the porter filled them out for us. Luck of the draw I guess.

I made up my mind to make sure I have a marker or two next time. I ended up filling out our whole party's tags as I had the only quickly available pen. Name, date, deck and room, and ship.

Reggie's experience was the same as my two previous cruises. Drive up, they'll ask who you are, they fill out the tag and take the bags. Could not be easier! Have fun, relax, they don't ask you to think too much! Do book your excursions ahead of time (online, at home) so you don't get in lines onboard.
