Thread: Rhapsody to Roatan 05/06/07

Roatan, Honduras will be a highlighted port of call on extraordinary cruise to Cozumel, Roatan, Costa Maya, and Progresso.

We're sure to enjoy all seven days of this fabulous voyage, but the Friends of CSI Roatan are especially looking forward to the port of Roatan. It's truly one of the most beautiful ports in the Western Caribbean.

Roatan is home to CSI Roatan, an orphanage, dental clinic, community outreach, and educational sponsorship program run by an American couple. (see Caring Cruisers for CCCO Roatan for more information) We'll be visiting CCCO while at Roatan, meeting the children, and taking along some much needed supplies for this wonderful effort.

And the fact that Roatan is an absolutely beautiful place is just icing on the cake! I know you're gonna love it

I can tell you this, even my DH is excited about this one. Looking forward to visiting the places we have never been and of course the children.

Will you be flying or driving over to Galveston?

Sheila, flying to Houston and spending the night before by the airport. We opted for the transfers offered by RC so will be arriving the day of the cruise to Galveston. This is just a little "safer" than doing it on our own and it was also about the same price.

I have a funny feeling we will end up driving...
We'll probably stuff the trunk and backseat full of supplies and head out.

What the heck, it's only a little over a thousand miles!

Sheila, that's a jaunt for sure. I'm sure I will send stuff via UPS to either the hotel or maybe Mindy?

I will probably be shipping Roatana supplies to Mindy if we fly.

gets things shipped to her quite often during Galveston's "Roatan sailing season." I'm sure she will say something like "What's another box?"

Even if we don't fly, and there are lots of folks who sign up, I'll probably ship her some things, as she has volunteered to pack a bag of supplies for everyone in our group.

Not having done this before, what does the cruise line have to say about all the extra "baggage"?
