A good question Ziggy. Thanks for asking this one. I would also like to know, as we are considering a Regent cruise.

There isn't just one thing that stands out. There are several...and I'll rattle off a few off the top of my head:

    1) The service will spoil you for any other cruise you ever take. It really is that different. The bartenders remembered exactly what we drank and shared the info with other bartenders. I don't know how, but in no time the whole ship knew our names too and greeted us by name. The hostess remembered what kind of hors'douvres I liked the night before and brought me over a plate full the next night I went to the lounge. I asked for an extra chocolate one time and the room steward brought me a plate of Godiva chocolates and chocolate dipped strawberries. That kind of thing.
    2) The crew is genuinely happy and it shows. They sing in the halls.
    3) The whole ship feels classy. Not snooty, just comfortably classy. This is not the white gloves and grey poupon scene...but things are just simply done really well, done right, done quickly, it's first class but casual and really fun.
    4) NO WAITING IN LINES...not for tenders, not for meals, not for the photographer desk, not for boarding or disembarking...it's wonderful...
    5) Better food than you are used to. We are talking Cordon Bleu private chef good.
    6) No nickle and diming for anything. You want another coke or bottled water? Just ask. Take as many as you like. Take ten! No charge. More wine? Sure, here's a whole bottle with dinner. You want another type that's not on the menu? We'll go find you one in the wine cellar that you might like...
    7) Speaking of booze, did I mention wine and beer are free throughout the entire cruise? Oh, and they also set you up with a bar in your room consisting of two free bottles of whatever you choose (rum, tequila, whiskey, good wine, etc) per person. It's always more than we can drink.
    8) Great deals for previous customers
    9) Great people on board. Nobody hogs chairs, no girls gone wild or spring break crowd...just fun people.
