Regent Goes iPod / MP3 - Cruise Line Fans: Cruise Forum, Reviews and Chat From Real Cruisers

As part of its "Travel Concierge"program, Regent Seven Seas has just debuted a series of 1.5-hour iJourney personal walking tours narrated by veteran TV producer Elyse Weiner, formerly of Tom Brokaw's NBC Nightly News and Peter Jennings' ABC World News Tonight. The tours are compatible with iPods and other MP3 players and will be available beginning spring 2007 on all Mediterranean voyages, downloadable for a cost aboard ship. Each tour will come with a map and feature commentary, historical context, and tips -- back entrances, where to find shorter lines at popular attractions, and details such as the exact spot in Rome where Marc Antony delivered his eulogy for Julius Caesar.

The initial list of port tours will include Venice, Florence, Rome, Pompeii and Barcelona. Additional tours are under development for other ports worldwide.

Regent excursions are out of this world wonderful. I have an iPod, and plan to check this out when I have a few spare minutes (someday soon, I hope!). If their podcasts are of the same quality as their excursions I suspect we are all in for a treat. This sounds like it's worth checking out.

I searched the iPod store and found a lot of cool free stuff under "travel" (National Geographic, the Travel Channel, etc) but the Regent podcast doesn't come up under any search.

I will double check, but it sounds like you can only download this while onboard the ship.
