Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

That's too much ship for me! Or maybe I should say it's not enough ship---but too much floating "city".

I was at the Broward County Commission (Fort Lauderdale) meeting this Tuesday and they were discussing the modifications that are necessary to Port Everglades to accomodate the Genesis project. It was very interesting.

Coming up: Celebrity Millennium Wine Cruise(9/17/10), Celebrity Century(1/15/11) and Celebrity Eclipse Italian Mediterranean(7/2/11)

It is going to be very interesting to follow the development. But towers, a cetral park???
I have to agree with you Char, its not enough ship but a city!!
Then again it is facinating too. I would probably try the ship if the Genesis was a short flight away.

It all reminds me of a drawing I saw of a ship, I think it was in the 80´s, with 4 tower blocks and being of "biblical proportions". It was a ship Knut Kloster of NCL wanted to build. If memory serves me well it was called Phoenix!!?????

They are deciding on names in May (!!???) I think.
So far those names has been choosen to the final,

    Mosaic of the seas
    Coronation of the seas
    Oasis of the seas

    ...........

It was called Phoenix. I believe there were several versions.
I found these old prototypes, I am not sure if they are the ones you were refering to.

    Thank you Blizzard,
    I´ve never seen these prototypes.
They do look interesting to say the least.

I did some research and project I was thinking about was called "America world City". The original name was "Phoenix project"

Here is a link to "America world City". (Scroll half way down the site)

    MegaShips

But how long will Genesis be the biggest cruise ship in the world??

    Not for long aparantly.
A Japanese company is planning to build a "ship" thats 450 000 tons, 505 meters long, with 3600 cabins and take 8400 passengers.
    check out the company website...
