For all the Radiance fans in the USA, I don't believe the ship will be permanently based in Australia, as here is an excerpt from the official RCCL announcement made on the 18 Feb., the same day we embarked on an 8 day Tasmania cruise on board the Rhapsody!
"The company will homeport two superliners in Sydney from October 2011: Rhapsody of the Seas, currently in its third Australian summer season, will be joined by Radiance of the Seas, the first 21st Century cruise ship to be based in Australia. Offering cruises in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific during the summer months from October to April."
The RCCL ships will spend the Australian summer in our waters but will be back in your northern waters for your summer, as has been the case with the Rhapsody. I hope I will love the Radiance as much as I do the Rhapsody!! Am planning on the reposition cruise from Honolulu to Sydney, Oct 2011.
Happy Cruising
Phil
Australia really needs another RCI ship during our summer as cruising has grown at a rapid rate over the last 5 years and during school breaks it's extremely difficult to get a cabin, let alone a good deal.
I have just booked the Honolulu to Sydney on Radiance, departing 27th September 2011 - VERY excited. I have sailed on the Rhapsody a couple of times and Independence once, can anyone give me any advice on how Radiance compares to those two ships so I have an idea of what she's like?
I love all those glorious At Sea days, could quite happily do without any ports at all if it was possible.
