Will the Radiance of the Seas be used as a hotel at the 2010 Olympics?
This is total specutation on my part.
Here is what I learned today
The Radiance will cruise from San Diego to Vancouver 1/22/2010.
It will return to San Diego the following March.
There is nothing scheduled for the time in between.
It is too long a period to be a dry dock.
There would be no other reason for the ship to be sailing to Vancouver in January.
I am looking at the northbound sailing the end of January but I am a little concerned about the Washington coast in January.

You read it here first.
Good catch, John! You're keeping a close eye on your favorite ship, eh?

It could be a bit rough, and even down along the Oregon coast, but it's not impossible. They will have to keep just the right distance out at sea. Not too close to shore where waves kick up but not too far out where you could run into a problem away from help.

With Global Warming, we haven't had those kind of winters in a long time. But there's not telling what will happen with the weather in the coming winters.

The pricing for the cruise is very good though

Words out that the Jewel of the Seas will be used as a hotel ship during the Olympics, too.

That's what I'm saying. I would LOVE to stay on the Radiance during the Olympics. Half a days drive for us, watch some Olympic events, get a little skiing in on the side and stay onboard a beautiful Royal Caribbean ship at night.
I wonder if they will make an agreement allowing them to serve liquor and open the shops & casino, at least at night?
And will they still offer shows? What will dining be like?
This might be a good idea for RCCL to give people a taste of what cruising can be like. I'm sure their hope is to get some new customers out of it while still making a bankroll of money from the Olympic tourists.
Let your conversation be gracious and attractive, so that you will have the right response for everyone.
