I believe that the ship will operate as a hotel not as a cruise ship during the games. They may even have it chartered to the organizing commitee to VIP's and or workers

It looks like the Jewel will also be heading for Vancouver.

The latest information is that the Radiance, along with the Jewel, were chartered by a company that had a contract to use the ships as housing and food service for the RCMP security force during the games. Since then there has been a dispute over the contract. At this time the RCMP has reported that there is a problem with who was going to pay for some of the expenses.

RCL is still taking bookings for the Radiance traveling to Vancouver.

I expect that this will end up in mediation or in court.

I wonder if RCL will provide some of their ship staff with access to the games as a perk? Probably not but wouldn't that be neat?

The ships would be in Vancouver. Other than indoor events. the rest of them will be some distance away in Whistler.

RCL has now added the Jewel northbound to their list of available cruises to book.

It is interesting that they have added the northbouk Jewel after the contract was said to not exist.

You can now book a 6 night northbound on the Jewel or a 9 night northbound on the Radiance. They are both scheduled to sail from San Diego, January 22 and January 25, 2010

Both ships are scheduled to leave Vancouver on March 2, 2010. The southbound trips will be 9 and 10 nights

I would have liked to book the northbound on the Jewel because I have not sailed on her yet. She is only doing a 6 night up the coast and I prefer the 9 night on the Radiance.
The timing is not good for me on the southbounds.
