Currently the largest cruise ship afloat (until the arrival of RCI's Freedom of the Seas in MAY 06)
Second ship with this famous name. A diesel and gasturbine plant of 157.000 hp. enables her to sail with a speed of nearly 30 miles per hour. The steel plating for the sleek 1,131- foot-long hull was specially ordered and is several times thicker than that used on most contemporary cruiseships, This was done in order to achieve greater rigidity required for crossing the Atlantic Ocean in all weather conditions.
