I have a question, you said you wouldn't go in the water unless to cool off, why?

The water is perfectly safe - just looked like Galveston water (did I say that out loud?). On the day we were there, the guide said it was actually pretty good. I guess the waves can churn things up and it just didn't look that inviting to me.

FYI - around Progreso is where a lot of the rich people from Merida have their summer beach houses, so it can't be all bad.

Not sure when octopus (yuk) season is, but they harvest them from the other side of the pier.

The beach there is nice, but the water just wasn't like Cozumel.
