Progresso

I am not sure if this goes here or not, Feel free to move it to the proper thread

I am going on a cruise that has a stop in Progresso, Has anyone ever done excursions in Progresso that you can tell me about.

My hubby and I are taking the girls with us (15,14,10) and want to find something they might enjoy also,

Thanks so much for your help

My guess is it belongs under Mexico.

Some people don't like Progreso, but I did. The water is Gulf of Mexico water, not the clear blue you expect in the Caribbean, but that's the bad news.

Merida is not far from Progreso and a lot of people like to go there and walk around.

I went to Uxmal on a ship tour and really enjoyed it. I should have lots of pictures somewhere, but haven't rehosted, yet. Will see if I can find.

Here are some pics from my Progreso stop in Sept 2004 (when Ivan was trashing Grand Cayman):

Progreso is a great stop for visiting ruins. If you think your kids would be interested in that, that is what I would recommend.

Going there soon, not interested in ruins particularly and no kids either. What else?

umm the only other thing is the Corona Beach. If you drink beer or are interested in the Corona Girls you might like it (didn't interest me as I'm female and don't drink beer). Other than that not much, oh wait most ships offer a tour into Merida.

Dune buggy, jeeps, horseback riding, but Merida looked interesting.

What might we expect to see in Merida?

Great pics, Zydeco! Loved the reading Iguana, and what a bargain you found for lunch!

Here are some pictures (not mine) someone once sent me on Progreso, Merida, Chichen Itza.

Pretty sure the whole fried fish was at a restaurant in Progreso. Think I recognize the restaurant, but don't remember the name. Would have liked that for lunch.

Since some are at night - I assume this was from a land based vacation.
