    Farewell To Europe Prisendam 10/30/08

    Hi Everybody,

We have booked this cruise for our 50th anniversary. We would love to meet anyone who might be sailing with us. I started a thread on Cruise Critic and would love to have one here.

Has anyone been on the Prinsendam and what did you think of her? This will be a first for us and we are looking forward to it. We even splurged and booked a SY suite. You only have one 50th anniversary.

We are from Altamonte Springs, Fl. My DH is Chuck and he is retired from the insurance business and now writes novels. I had been a 1st grade teacher until we moved to Fl. almost 23 years ago I changed careers and became a Realtor. We moved here from Cheyenne, Wy. We have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Our grandson and granddaughter live with their parents in Austin, Tx and we have two granddaughters who live here with their parents and are native Floridians.

We hope to go to Athens 3 to 5 days ahead of the cruise and do some sightseeing.

Here's to blue skies and calm seas,
    Arlene

    Welcome b ack to CLF.

We haven't sailed on the Prinsendam. Had planned on doing the Amazon on her in 2008 but had to cancel as our doctor has advised us not to get the yellow fever shots.

Wish I could help you with this ship but unfortunately I can't.

    Sounds like a wonderful itinerary.

Arlene this sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate your 50th Wedding Anniversary. Unfortunately I have never sailed on the Prinsendam nor have I done this type of itinerary but would love to someday.

Athens is fantastic!! Before one of our cruises, we stayed there for several days. We stayed at the Athenian Internationl Hotel.

The evening of our anniversary we ate at their roof top restaurant which has a GRAND view of the Acropolis. At night they put on a light and laser show. We had front row seats!!.

It was a highlight for us.

The Athenian International Hotel is just a short walk from the Plaka (shopping district).

You are going to have a grand time there.

    Hi Arlene,
My husband and I are going on the Prinsendam May 21, 2008. I heard so many good things about this ship. I will post when we get back.

does anyone know of a good hotel or bed and breakfast in Pireus for a couple of nights before departure? Is there transportation from the airport if you haven't booked pre-cruise with hotel package with HAL? We have a booking in the works with our travel agent for Oct. 30.
