Gord, you must have know that I would post today. I don't know if I will have a chance to get over to CC, but here are 2 books I found about castles you can visit in my library:

Johansens Historic Houses Castles and Gardens: The Original Guide to the Treasures of Great Britain and Ireland
The copy I have is a bit out of date, but it is associated with this website:
    http://www.historichouses.co.uk/cnj/...y.aspx?id=7426
It includes England, Wales, Scotland,Ireland and the Channel Isalnds

The Daily Telegraph : Castles and Ancient Monuments of England by Damien Noonan
It also is not a recent publication, but it has a lot of good info about stone circles, and other sites of archeological interest, as well as more recent castles, baths, and abbeys.

But the best news is that I found info about the Isle of Man in the Let's Go Travel Guide to Britain and Ireland ( a whole 7 pages!!!)

We are having a debate as to where to stay in London, in town or out in the burbs near our uncle. I dont' think most of the places out that way will be extremely comfortable, but we will have to see. As for Amsterdam, I am seriously looking at renting an apt in a canal house. I found this site Speciality of Amsterdam - Houseboats - Amsterdam Apartments and am quite charmed by it.

Give my regards to Carmen, and I'll keep you posted on what we decide.

    Cabins available on this cruise!!!!
I got a letter from an online TA over the weekend, and not only were the cabins available - SUITES TOO!!! There were no suites available for months, but after the final payment date, anything can happen.

As best as I can figure out, the online TA booked some cabins at a group rate early on, and either something fell through, or they did not sell as many as they predicted. So suddenly new places were available. The cabins I wanted, 197 and 196 are still taken, but that didn't matter, since DH decided he wanted to upgrade to a Suite instead.

If anyone is interested in joining us, please give it a look over.

    The itinerary is now
    Embark Amsterdam July 3
    Day at Sea July 4
Newcastle upon Tyne, England July 5
    Edinburgh, Scotland July 6
    Invergordon, Scotland July 7
    Day at Sea July 8
    Isle of Man July 9
    Belfast, Northern Ireland July 10
    Liverpool, England July 11
    Dublin, Ireland July 12
    Waterford, Ireland July 13
    Milford Haven, Wales July 14
    Day at Sea July 15
    Guernsey, Channel Islands July 16
    Disembark Dover, England July 17

Let me know if you have any questions.
