    Laundry soap on Prinsendam?

My DH and I are sailing on the Prinsendam on October 1st. We will be on the ship for 17 days on the Cradle of Civilization cruise. This is our first time on HAL and I don't know if I should be packing laundry detergent, dryer sheets, etc. Are these items available on the ship ? How much does it cost to do a load of laundry ? Should I take US change for the machines, or do you purchase tokens from the office ? I would appreciate any advice you can give me. We are getting so excited about the trip.

Have not been on the Prinsendam but have cruised on many of the other HAL ships.

It usually costs $2 to do a load of laundry - quarters only - can get change at the front desk. There is a button that you can push on the machine for the laundry soap - it is a liquid made special for the ship.

Some of the ships the dryer is free - others $1 - again - quarters only. There isn't any type of fabric softner - liguid or sheet - have to take your own.

I believe that the detergent is already provided, you might bring a few drier sheets. I also understand that the laundries used to be free on the Prinsendam.
BTW, the Prinsendam is absolutely fabulous, the crew is top notch. Make sure you order orange juise to your room at least one morning for breakfast, it comes fresh squeezed in a huge glass!!! Never been so spoiled in my life as I was on the Prinsendam.
(P.S.-We always splurge on a laundry package so I've not used the washer/dryer on the Prinsendam.)

Thanks so much for the imformation. I'll pack a few dryer sheets, but will also check out the laundry package on the ship. The convenience may be well worth it.
Thanks again to both of you for answering my question

We usually take the laundry package, especially on port intensive trips like those in the Med. My DH and I aren't big drinkers or spa'ers and the laundry coming back beautifully washed and pressed everytime is a huge treat!!
