    emerald and crown ships

We have cruised Emerald last February(10 nights) and will cruise Crown next February(14 nights). Are these ships alike or is there a difference I should know about?
This will be just our second cruise so forgive me if I ask dumb questions. As a 14 days cruise it will stop at F Lauderdale midcruise. Is it mandatory to get off the ship? What do you usually do this day?
Thank you for your replies! Is anybody cruising this same ship?

Macia .... We've been on Emerald for 20 Days (10 Day B2Bs) and on Crown for a 7 Day Thanksgiving cruise ... both out of Ft.Lauderdale. They are sister ships and I can't recall any differences.

On the Emerald B2B we met in a lobby in the late morning and they walked the B2B through Immergration, took our pictures again, and immediately back on the ship. Took about 15 minutes total. In fact we've never been on a Princess B2B where it was a problem in any way ... and we've taken lots of these over the years on various Princess ships. We've always been able to go directly back to our cabin and one of the pools and several bars have always been open.

We are booked on Crown for a 14 Day this January (1/7 - 1/21, 2012) which is really a 7 Day B2B but we booked it as a 14 Day. Don't know for sure but they'll probably give us everything when we board and not have to do anything at all again since we booked it as a 14 Day.

    When is your cruise?

Please feel free to ask any other questions and I'll do my best to help you out.

The Crown and Emerald Princess are sisters with just a few very minor differences; Sabatini's is a bit larger on the Emerald, and the tour desk on Emerald and Ruby Princess are on Deck 7 just past the Wheelhouse Bar as you are heading to the Princess Theater.
I have never done a B2B, so I can't tell what the procedure is for the second leg of the cruise.

It's very easy on Princess! You meet in a lounge and they walk you through customs and check in ... and then directly back on the ship. The whole thing only takes about 15 minutes. You can go back to your cabin if you wish. The buffet, several full service bars, at least one pool, etc. remain open.

Over the years we've been to all of those places ... to some of them many times. It's a great itineraly ... we've very much enjoyed each of them.

What sorts or things do you like to do? We like the beach and water sports ... but some don't. Knowing what you like will help us make suggestions.

If you haven't already, you might want to check out Cruise Places Cruise Places - Cruise Line Fans under each of your ports of call. There's some helpful info & reports from others who have been to them.

I'm just remembering what they told us over the intercom back in 2006 when we were on the Crown in San Juan. Those who were doing B2B had to disembark from the ship, go to the check-in counter at the Terminal, get their new Princess Cards for the next leg and re-embark the ship. Since St Thomas was our previous port of call, they were not required to go through Customs in San Juan.

Lots of things depend. On our turn around in Acapulco on a Princess ship. They gave us our new cards the night before. We didn't have to do a thing except go to security at some point the next day to have our picture taken again. We were also given "In Transit" cards to allow us to get off and on the ship quickly in Acapulco if we wished.

We are looking so forward to our cruise on the crown on Jan 21 for 14 days. We booked this cruise several months ago and just love princess cruises. We booked the crown as we love the movies every night on the deck and love the carribean. Anyone on this cruise enjoy and what I have read about this ship it is as good as the grand if not better.
