On days IN PORT do you have Lunch in the MDR?

On all of our Princess cruises Princess ships have normally had the Main Dining Room open for Lunch when ships were making ports stops.

Thought it would be interesting to see how many of us go to the MDR on In-Port Days.

It's hard to have lunch in the MDR when it's not open on port days!

There are times that we do return to the ship for lunch. But on our last two cruises, we didn't have lunch in the MDR even on sea days. Just worked out that way. A few times we did look at the lunch menu and then decide to go have a grilled chicken sandwich near the pool or head to the buffet.

Nope , never have , likely never will. Not enough time, the buffet is available to eat if we need to, which we rarely do at lunch even on sea days.

If we are close to the ship at lunch, we do go back and eat on board (unless a tender port). We typically on a port day head to the buffet as it is quicker and lots of choices. Then go back into port or relax on the ship. A lot depends on what time we get to the port and what time we leave.

Alaska & US ports, wouldn't hesitate to eat at the port. But in a foreign port (except Canada) I wouldn't take the chance because I have food allergies. I need to be 100% certain the person taking my order understands about the allegies.

When we're not planning to do anything in port other than walk around for a bit, we enjoy having lunch in the MDR.

Amazingly, there are about as many pax having lunch in the MDR on Port Days as there are on Sea Days! Many have told us they plan their day time activities around having LUNCH in the MDR ... both in port or at sea. Lots say they avoid the buffet because they much prefer to sit down and be served.

We and many others are quite happy this option is offered by Princess!

Not very likely since it takes over an hour even for a quick bite. Even if we get back to the ship early we'll stake out a couple of chairs by the forward pool and then hit the buffet for a quickie.
