    Princess Names New Ship

Princess Names New Ship Royal Princess + More Details
Princess Cruises will name the first of its 3,600-passneger newbuilds the Royal Princess, after the original Royal Princess in 1984, which was the first purpose-built ship for Princess. Fincantieri cut the first piece of steel for the newbuild, expected to launch May 2013, on March 15.

Alan Buckelew president and CEO of Princess Cruises, made the announcement today in Miami.

“The new ship will be consistent with the existing fleet,” he said. “Our strategy is to provide a consistent experience to our passengers. We’ve been concentrating on fine-tuning our product and making it consistent since we introduced the Ruby in 2008.”

Princess ship will have an “open-deck sea-walk” that extends over the ship, further out than the bridge wings, with views 128 feet down to sea-level. The opposite side of the ship will feature a similar structure with a trendy bar.

Eighty percent of staterooms on the ship will be outside rooms with balconies, according to Buckelew.

It's to bad they couldn't come up with something new instead of recycling the same old name over & over.
    No imagination.

Lets hope the interior of the new ships at least have a new & different design other than the typical layout of the Emerald, Ruby & Crown. The other cruise lines always introduce something to catch the eye of new cruisers, and although I could do without any slides in the swimming pool & rock climbing walls it still would be exciting to see a newer design.

I don't have a problem with a water park(pools, slides, so forth), but I agree a new and fresh interior design would be welcomed.

Btw, Princess ships currently do not have Waterslides, just fresh water pools. It could be that they are geared to providing a relaxing stress free cruise vacation, hence their motto, "Escape Completely.

And that the people on the SeaWalk can be seen from below! They should watch what they wear.
