Tell me about the Island Princess! Any secrets I should know? Any good tips? What do you like, love or hate?
I've cruised on the Sun Princess, Dawn Princess and Caribbean Princess. So this is a first of this ship layout & design to sail on for me.

Heather, we recently returned from a B2B on Island Princess and very much enjoyed sailing on her.
The food was the best we've had on a criuise ship in a very long time!![]()
You might want to look carefully at the lay out of the ship. Most activities are either mid-ship or forward. Even Horizon Court on Lido Deck is forward instead of being aft as it is on most other Princess ships.
Crooner's Lounge was an especially nice place to be. Normally, we like Wheelhouse ... but on Island we enjoyed Crooner's much more.
When we were trying to pick between two ship, Patty recommended Island and are so glad we took her advice. Thanks Patty!![]()
Heather, we did the Panama Canal and I believe you're doing Alaska. Still, if you have any questions about the ship, I'll be happy to try to answer .....

I did notice many differences between the Sapphire and the Island in their layouts. As Lulu says, the Horizon was far forward so you had a great view while eating if you were able to grab a table in that area, which we often did. My daughter would often take her plate and go out a door and have her own private area -- that we can watch her from -- to dine.
The one thing I didn't like was that the Churchills cigar bar was right on the Promenade in the Grand Atrium. So whenever the door opened to let people in or out, some of the smell would go out too. And the Crooners Bar, at that time (don't know about present, but Lulu would know) had a smoking area right on the Grand Atrium too. So we often found the atrium very smokey as the smoke would go on to the other decks.
We ate in the traditional dining room. I think it was on the 6th deck.
