The only reason I didn't pick "very very loyal" is that it's always possible we might pick another cruiseline. But Princess, as others have said above, is a great fit for my us.

Hi there everyone, been away for awhile. Busy busy summer.

Our last cruise was w/ Princess (CB) and 1st time on it. Was very disappointed in all ways. Don't go on a vacation w/ high expectations, don't expect or want foot/butt kissing service or need fancy foods. Just being on a cruise seeing all those gorgeous new places, relaxing in the sun is wonderful for us. But this one was so sad and comparing it to the other lines have been on, made it worse. Was hoping it was the economy and industry wide cut backs but....
Since we've come back, have had a friend & a co-worker go on other lines and they can't praise those ships enough. So, that said, we never say never but will avoid Princess if can do so for our future cruises of which there will be at least 3 more that I have in the old noggin right now.

The next vac.is a land one on St John USVI for April 2010. Know this is a cruise site but if any of my fellow travelers here have any tips, feel free to contact me. Will be grateful.

Debbie

Debbie, we took a land vacation to St. John ... actually half in St.John and the other half in St.Thomas! This was about 10 years ago, had a great time, and keep saying we're going to do it again! Where does the time go!!!!

On our port stops in St.Thomas we almost always go to St. John. Just love it there!

We LOVE Princess but have enjoyed some other cruise lines as well! Which are the three your friends have been recommending?

Missed you and glad to have you back!

The service was non-existent, the staff rarely greeted you & even rarer were the smiles ( most were getting off after our cruise so might have been battle weary), the D/R & buffet staff were downright rude. Never saw the cruise director, ever. Not sure he was onboard. Our Duvet had holes in it, the shower curtain had mold on it. Our cabin steward was exemplary, tipped him extra at the end. But since the ship was booked full, there was no extra linens etc for him to replace ours with. Think that inc. the tipping in the cost, takes some of the incentive out of the staff to go that extra mile. The Grill room, got a raw pork chop and the waiter refused to take it back, was told it was up to the chef how he wanted it cooked & this is way he wanted it. With that attitude, was afraid to insist on it being re-cooked. There was no staff going around all day w/ the Drink of the Day in the ships glasses ( don't think there was a drink of the day) or any drinks on trays, inticing you to buy. They stood by the railings (w/ empty trays) waiting for you to signal them.

Everything costs extra now, even had to buy a Bingo marker !! Don't have the cards that the paper folds down in the space. The Mutts was the same movies over & over, and same for the shows, just would rotate them.

One of the Main acts in the Atrium(everyday) was the world champion hula hoop person. Excuse me? What happened to the trios or piano players etc? Ok for one afternoon show but every evening ? How many times can you watch someone spin a hula hoop?

Thank goodness, we don't look for above board service, only clean room & beds, decent food, a lounge chair in the sun, cold drinks, and terrific islands to see. But when compare to RCCL, there is no comparison. So far, RCCL hands down, in all depts.

Maybe you can give me tidbits @ the island ? think you can get my email address from here right? if not, can I give it here? We've only been to St Thomas on port calls. Think mentioned staying on the Coral Bay side? House is @ 100' up the side of mountain. found a terrific web site that is condo & house rental by owners. used it for rental in Fl w/ our family in disney and was all it promised to be. am so excited, a week in paradise. ha.

We love RCCL, and our 2 friends/co-workers just came back from cruises on them, one co-worker has been on over 25 cruises over the yrs & been on most all lines and she says RCCL is the best. And our friend just came back from a 10 day from NJ to Caribbean on RCCL, she's been on Princess & Carnival and after hearing @ our cruise exp in May, she paid close attention to those things we were disappointed in and she said that RCCL couldn't do, be or provide enough in all areas.

Like said, not saying never, but it was a letdown after hearing so much @ Princess over the years from others and on forums like here. And could have just been one of those "off" cruises, that can happen at times. Just will be a little leery in trying them again.
Missed you and glad to have you back!

Thank you for the welcome back. Been busy, had our 3 oldest GD here for almost 3wks, then my 60th & then DH b-day and just usual summer activities. then of course, planning next yrs trip to St John. looking at sites and rentals etc. So been on "land" sites & not cruiselinefans. Will stay in touch more but since no cruises planned for few yrs, don't want to clog up the website here.

Ok, it sounds like you have valid reasons to be disappointed. We haven't had those problems on our three Princess cruises. We did get the dregs in robes from our cabin steward for our last cruise (they were clean, but one did have a stain on them...and it took a while to get them), but he was quick to trade out our bedding when some sand fleas -- probably picked up from the last occupants of that cabin -- attacked our limbs while sleeping. We didn't think our last set of waiters were the best we had (we absolutely loved Christina from Hungary who was our ass't waiter on the Star and our waiter on the Sapphire), but we never felt we couldn't comment on the food if we had a problem.

Since I don't do bingo or drink (usually don't due to migraines), I don't have experience in these areas. I am from the opposite school: if I'm relaxing on the deck, I don't want to be constantly asked if I want a drink. I find that a bother. And about the entertainment in the atrium, I would prefer music too.

I hope you did comment on these situations on your comment card so that Corporate will know. It does seem that if enough people have the same complaint, they will look into any matter.

Debbie .... You don't "clog up" anything on this website!

CLF needs you! Many cruise to places where you've gone on land vacations so your information is tons of help! Also, you've cruised before and plan (at some point) to cruise again! Stay in touch OFTEN! Please!

That's true. If having a recent cruise was the criteria for posting here, my posting priviledges would have been taken away already. My last cruise was in 2005/06 and my last vacation of any type was a two-day stay up the coast last summer. But I'm gathering info for possible cruises in the future ()
