Will be sailing this January on the Ruby Princess. have only been on one cruise before (NCL-Pearl) and was wondering if anyone had any experiences with mini-sites on The Emerald? We are looking at the Dolphin Deck and have the choiice of either the front or the back of the ship. We do not get seasick so that;'s not a problem - any suggestions? preferences? Thanks
Not lots of help because we have a Mini-Suite on Emerald booked for a B2B in January on Dolphin Deck.
We don't get sea sich either. We had to take what we could get for BOTH sailings so we won't have to change cabins. Ours are port side aft. A bit concerned that the balcony area is TOTALLY open.

Hello, and Welcome to CLF. I've had a Mini-Suite on the Crown Princess, D 715, which is Starboard Side(Right side) toward the rear of the ship, and loved it. I prefer the to be toward the rear of the ship than at the front. It's actually better to be midship or toward the rear.
On the Emerald deck there are several cabins, E720-E730 and E721-E731 that have very large balconies. The 2 cabins E730 & E731 also are wider than the others as they extend aft over twice the width of the cabin making them over twice the size.
PIC attached from the Golden but layout is similar.
Thank you so much to everyone for replying! We just got off the phone and they are offering us either D726 or D202-205 (Dolphin Deck). From what I'm reading these balconies are totally open?? Any opinion on these - this has been very helpful and I appreciate it!

You're welcomed.
That's correct, all of the Mini-Suite balconies on the Dolphin deck are totally open as seen in the picture in the post before this. If you wish to get a suntan in the privacy of your balcony, it's ideal. When it rains, everything gets wet.
We are booked in Emerald D724 Mini-suite. Not sure about the open deck but I will bring an unbrella for rain--sun--wandering eyes--and in case anything accidently drops/spills on me! :-) Bottom line----we love larger cabins so the trade-off will be worth it. Honestly, we are looking forward to this new configuration experience. We usually get mini-suites with roofed balconies. Let you know in December...

All balconies on the Dolphin deck of Princess ships are not covered, and yes, when others above you are on their balconies, you'll have plenty eyes looking down on you.
Don't expect a wide spacious Mini-Suite cabin. They have more length than width because of the sitting area. We had a Mini-Suite on the Crown Princess and was a bit disappointed with the lack of spaciousness. It's more like a longer balcony cabin.
The Mini-suites(Cat 11) on Carnival ships are more spacious.
