My wife and I and my In-Laws did the Caribbean Princess out of Ft. Lauderdale in February. A really great cruise, one of the best I have been on. Our cabin and my In-Laws cabin were in the same place on the ship, but on opposite sides of the ship. This made it private enough for both of us, but close enough that we could easily meet before dinner etc.
Our cabin was up front on Caribe Deck (deck 10) and while we did not care for being so far up front - just too far to walk to everything, the cabin was nice, spacious and the balcony was huge. Just had to remember that going out in boxers was not a good idea, since the bridge staff could look down and see
We had dinner one night in Steak Restuarant and thought it was excellent. The ship was very clean and in great shape. We loved MUTS and watched movies there during the day. Only once did we see the night showing. The day we were in St. Maarten our afternoon tour was cancelled due to bad weather. I went back to the cabin to sleep and my wife and mother- in law went to see a movie in the Princess Theater.
The entertainment was first class and we saw both shows, the Beatlesmania Show, and 2 or 3 comedians. We also enjoyed a few pre-dinner shows in Explorers Lounge .
Speaking of dinner, the food was really good. Never disappointed with dinner at all. Favorite meal was the split king crab legs, but every night we had something that was delicous. Our assignment was for open seating, but really wnated traditional late seating. No problem, the day we got on board we went to see the Maitre'd and he switched us. We had late seating at a table for 4 and two of the best waiters on the ship (Literally) While alot of the wait staff is often seen in the buffets. Our waiter's assigment was as head waiter for the officers' dining room. He was first class all the way and made our trip expereince all that much more special.
The trip on the Caribbean Princess was as close to perfect cruise as I can remember. The ship, staff, food all were great and we definately going on Princess again in the future.
One final note.. if you have a chance when at sea, grab a drink and head up to Skywalkers Lounge. I say grab a drink, because although there is a bar up there, we found it was not open during the day. Next find a window either facing forward and look out over the ship, or aft and watch the ships wake. A perfect way to waste away sometime and relax.
