We are booked on the Ruby Princess for July 27, 2009 sailing from Venice to Rome for 12 days. On our last cruise we sailed from Rome to Barcelona on Oceania on the Nautica and had some problems with the ship and the staff. So we are Princess people now. Never had any problems with staff before. Have sailed on Regency from Jamaica and loved it--small ship, lots of teak, excellent staff and food. Iced vodka and caviar at dinner, very formal. Understand the ship sunk--The Regent Star. Our trip on Oceania was quite different. Actually, the ship itself, the Nautica, was fine except for a few problems. The staff treated us poorly after we had fumes in our cabin and had to get someone to unlock the cabin door and let us out. Our room steward said that he had never had anything like that happen before, but quite a few passengers slept on the pool deck under the stars due to the fumes leaking into the starboard cabins. The next day the cruise director denied knowing anything about it and treated us like loonies. Look forward to the Ruby Princess in July. Have heard it is a wonderful ship.
The Caribbean Princess is one of our favorites! We sailed the Caribbean in April. The Cafe Caribe is great. (The buffet is closed and the Cafe Caribe opens). More like sit-down dining with a buffet selection.
We were on the Aloha deck, can't remember the room. That deck is very close to the top and near the buffet, pool, etc.
We especially enjoyed the movies each day in the theater and also movies under the stars.
We leave tomorrow on the Crown, the same cruise we took in April, just a different ship.

Hi Shirley, sorry didn't respond back but just found your posting. Hope you had a wonderful cruise. Am still finding my way around this website and thought the latest postings would be listed 1st not last. Thanks for the good news on this ship. We just booked our shore excursions, so now it seems a little more realistic, know what I mean.? Any more info. you want to send our way is more than welcome.

Princess is my favorite. Have been on the Regal, Ocean (before it was sold), Sun for 3 cruises, Sea, Grand, Star, Emerald. Loved them all. Each time we board on embarkation day we do feel like we have come home, even when the ship is new to us. Always had great staff and great food. A big plus is the 24/7 buffet, just in case you feel for a snack during off hours!
Earlier someone mentioned the medical staff. They saved my dad's life on our first cruise. Because of them he had 6 more good years of living! I don't think you can get any better referrence than that.
Have never cruised Princess but we are seriously considering Coral Princess To Alaska (cruise/tour with mini-suite for around $1,400!) Any thoughts on the ship?
Lars, at least you'll be able to smoke in your cabin and on your balcony!
