Princess Cays - Eleuthera, Bahamas
Princess Cays is Princess Cruise Lines beautiful private island in the Bahamas.
I didn't think this would be a fun stop on our Caribbean Princess cruise, but it was!
The waters are very shallow, so the ships must be anchored offshore and passengers tendered to the island. This was handled very efficiently without much of a wait.
When we got to shore, Princess had tropical music streaming through the air....along with the smell of BBQ which would be served later at a free buffet. There were free lounge chairs and cabanas available, as well as snorkel equipment and rafts, etc. that could be rented. For the more adventursome, you can also rent all types of watersports equipment....like banana boats, kayaks, sail boats, etc. There are several bars serving Island drinks (extra cost)....and local crafts people selling their wares (no pressure!). Your Princess Cruise Card can be used for everything except for the crafts you may buy from the locals. Those must be paid for with cash.
There are 2 "coves" where you can snorkel and raft in calm, clear, turquoise waters...and then an open water area for the watersports. The beach is clean and white with palm trees. It is really pretty there.
After relaxing on the beach or participating in the watersports, you can return to the ship whenever you'd like, as there are tenders running back and forth non-stop.
Our day at Princess Cays is definitely one I wouldn't want to miss on our next Princess cruise, if it's a stop on our Princess schedule.
Here's a picture of the Caribbean Princess at anchor with two tenders enroute to the shore. If I have pictures of the shore, they'll be posted here later
