Does anyone know if there is anything fantastic to see in Madeira? We stop there for 9 hours on Sat 15th October.

I know this answer is coming far too late for Phil, but, as Funchal / Madeira is a very popular port of call for cruise ships, I decided to take the opportunity to talk about my island.

Madeira is, itself, Fantastic, we have lots to offer, not only in terms of nature, but also as far as our gastronomy, wine, handicrafts, monuments, festivities, etc. are concerned.

Even if you're coming here on a cruise and staying for just a couple of hours, you still have enough time to savour a bit of Madeira, be it by taking a tour or by just walking around in Funchal.
