Question New England is Awaiting Your Arrival! Are you Coming?

We are still in a deep freeze here in Portland, Maine, anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring.

I know there are some leaf peepers out there, and some folks who really enjoy cooler weather on their cruises. Has anyone booked a Fall 2009 New England/Canada cruise yet?

The winter has been snow filled, ensuring a large melt and adequate water supply, thereby generating a lovely fall foliage color spectrum (as long as the temperatures cooperate).

So, please let Cruise Line Fans know if you are coming to New England this Fall? On a cruise or via other modes of travel? What are you most excited to see?

I hear Carnival has some extensive, yet reasonably priced Fall 2009 New England/Canada packages available.

Tim, we don't have anything booked for the fall yet. Who knows, we just might consider a cruise up your way. I'll keep you posted!

Hubby and I are cruising New England/Canada end of September / beginning of October. We are really hoping to see some fall color. We're both amateur photograhers and members of our local photograhy club. We sure hope to be able to get loads of beautiful pictures during this cruise. One of our ports is Portland, Maine

Haven't done this itinerary before, so we're packing for layering of clothing.

Tim ... What's going on with cruises not being able to do the Maine port stop because of the whale situation?
    LuLu ...

Lulu, Thanks for bringing this to my/our attention.

Here is some more information: Whales force Royal Caribbean cruise ship to abandon port call in Maine - Cruise Log - USATODAY.com

It appears that a new federal regulation will limit vessels of a certain size and speed capability to enter the Rockland port.

The restriction is in place from May 1 to July 31. It does not appear to stop the ships from entering the port of Portland, ME (my current hometown).

Its a bummer about Rockland, as it is a favorite city of mine and many cruisers. However, the ecological situation up here is all important to the continuing tourism economy, which is the state's number one income stream.

I will try and find some more information for you all.

    thanks.

Hey Tim, a couple of us just booked a Canada cruise for JUNE 7th. We'll be stopping in St.John NB. I guess I won't have to bring shorts for this cruise?

Never been on a cruise heading north before. Any and all advice welcomed.

Canada/New England is the only part of North America that we have not cruised. I do want to do it someday. For time being the cost of air combined with the cost of the cruise has slowed us down on that one.

New England and Canada is a must for any cruise or maritime fan. The harbors, the wildlife, the coastlines, the winds, the weather, the people. Its a unique region and, Blizz, you stand to get yourself a free steak dinner if you ever set foot in Portland, Maine. We also have more 4-star restaurants than an other city in North America (per capita) in Portland. C'mon up.
