Up for a little adventure?
Then take a fast, loud, and thrilling ride through part of REAL Florida, with Midway Airboat Rides. This is no Disney ride, with mechanical animals along the way - it's the real thing!
" See the beautiful Florida outback like a native, untouched by man. A natural paradise & the wildlife and natural vegetation along the meandering St. John's River, cane and Cypress Forest. You may see on your tour: alligators, otter, blue heron, cranes, coots, bald eagles, and other wild creatures."
- From Midway Airboat Rides' website, www.midwayairboatrides.com/
This truly is a ride you'll remember - for the thrills, and for the sights you'll see. Don't forget your camera - the scenery is spectacular, and probably quite different than enything else you'll see on your cruise vacation!
While there are numerous airboat operators in the area, this is the one we use when we have out of town guests who enjoy this sort of thing.
The folks who operate this ride are friendly and knowledgable. At $15.00 for adults ($7.00 for kids 10 and younger), they are beating their competition solidly on pricing, as well.
A bonus: After your ride, have your picture taken holding a young alligator!

Just one exit west of the cruise terminal exit on 528, you'll find Kelly Park. If you just want to take a quick break near the water (but not the ocean), this is a free riverside park.
On the shore of the Banana River, Kelly park has picnic tables, playground equipment for the children, and free entertainment. The entertainment is in the form of windsurfing... there's almost always someone riding the water on their sail-equipped board in the river near this local park. They're always fun to watch for a bit.
Port Canaveral is the second busiest cruise port in the U.S.
The count of passengers on the two gambling boats (each sails twice daily) bolster the numbers significantly, enabling the Space Coast's port to lay claim to lay claim to the title of second busiest.
If you have teen-aged boys, their visit to the Space Coast just won't be complete until you take them to Ron Jon's near legendary surf shop. There, you'll find surfboards and gear, and those gotta-have surfer shirts - 24 hours a day!
"Girls" of all ages like this shop too - great souvenirs from Space Coast can be found here! Lots of space shuttle paraphernalia, as well as necessary beach items - and you can find it here when other places are closed!
