The Carnival Ecstasy has arrived at Port Canaveral!

The Carnival Ecstasy sailed into her new home port of Port Canaveral on Monday night.

We now have SEVEN year round home ported ships at Port Canaveral year round.

An eighth ship, Norwegian Sun, homeports here for only half the year.

The Ecstasy will be sailing from Cruise Terminal 3 on three, four, and five night itineraries. Ports of call include Freeport, Nassau, Half Moon Cay, and Key West.

I also wrote about this in Cruising Musings.

    Another story about this...

The latest cruise ship to call Central Florida home means millions of dollars for the struggling Space Coast.

We had her booked - but the perks of Destiny made us decide to switch.

Too bad. Sailing from PC is really nice.

We've experienced PC on our Sensation cruise - really quick, crowd-less and beautiful for sail away.

    It's a great port. That's for sure.
I live nearby, so of course, it's my favorite.

However, I really do think it's the easiest port I've ever sailed out of. I can literally be on the Lido, all checked in, and eating in the buffet, 40 - 45 minutes after walking out the door of my house.

Here's an excerpt from another article about the Ecstasy coming to Port Canaveral:

During a plaque-exchange ceremony Thursday between cruises aboard the Ecstasy, ship Captain Vincenzo Miele received various gifts and plaques from port and tourism officials, as well as the ceremonial key to the city of Cape Canaveral from Mayor Rocky Randels

But the BIG news, that is only spoken of in vague terms in the article, is that there could be a fourth Carnival ship in Canaveral's future.

Would that be the possibility of Fantasy going there?

That's a good question, but that would make three Fantasy Class ships here... I wonder if Carnival would want to put three ships of the same class in one port? Do you think that would be a consideration? It would probably mean three of their ships doing 'short hauls' from there, since that's what the cruise lines usually tend to do with the smaller, older ships.

It would more logical for them to add something in between the Fantasy Class and the big Dream Class ships.

If the Fantasy WERE to come here, however, it would be a return engagement, as that ship has home ported at Port Canaveral in the past.
