Cove Marketplace at Port Canaveral Grand Opening March 1!!

Cove Marketplace at Port Canaveral opens to praise

Port's market draws 75 visitors on its first day

PORT CANAVERAL -- If weather is any kind of omen, the new Cove Marketplace should be a hit.
Mild temperatures and sunny blue skies greeted the vendors and an estimated 75 visitors at the Cove Marketplace's opening at Port Canaveral on Monday. The initial crowds weren't overflowing for the makeshift shoppers' village but then again throngs of people were not necessarily expected this early in the game.

The marketplace's "soft opening" over the next two weeks is to see how well the operation works and where to make adjustments so it runs as efficiently as possible. March 1 will be the grand opening and representatives from the area chambers of commerce, hotel industry and others will be on hand for that event.

For the first hour of its opening Monday at least, it was smooth sailing with accolades coming from both the marketplace's shoppers and vendors.

The ride shouldn't be more than 5 or 6 minutes, though, I don't think

    Another excerpt from the website

Florida is a special place. And Port Canaveral occupies one of the most special locations within it, on an uncongested balmy stretch of the Atlantic coastline where the flavors of Florida past and present mingle harmoniously.

In the waterside dining and entertainment district of the Port known as The Cove, you'll find an open-air marketplace that gathers together the unique arts, crafts, tastes and treasures of our local region just for you. With a mixture of artisans and vendors here, shopping is an amazing adventure...something new and different everywhere you look.

Now that the 'season' has returned for Port Canaveral as a port of call, the Cove Marketplace at Port Canaveral is now open from 11 am to 5 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

This means that visitors aboard ships making a call to the port will have the option of bisiting the marketplace, which now has more than 50 vendors in an open air market. Among those present are local artists and craftsmen selling their own works, as well as sellers of cruise wear and soubenirs.

The Mon - Wed schedule is geared to passengers aboard the following ships calling here:

MONDAYS - The Norwegian Jewel, saiing out of New York City
TUESDAYS - The Norwegian Gem. saiing out of New York City
WEDNESDAYS - The Carnival Pride, saiing out of Baltimore

The marketplace is also open the first Saturday of each month, and includes a green market.
